Noua, is a 1972 Algerian movie. directed by Abdelaziz Tolbi.
Noua is an Algerian historical drama set in 1954 in a village of the Aurès region, on the eve of Algeria's War of Independence. In a world governed by colonial administrators and wealthy local landowners, poverty crushes the peasant class. Noua, a young woman in love with the son of a dispossessed farmer, finds her fate decided for her when she is to be sold in marriage to a rich landowner. The film is a tender and painful portrait of love and oppression in colonial Algeria, where social injustice and female vulnerability intersect against the backdrop of a nation on the brink of revolution.
