Overview

Li Li is an Egyptian drama film that plunges into the inner torment of Sheikh Abdul-Al, the imam of Al-Shobokshi Mosque in the Batiniyya district — a neighborhood teeming with traders and drug dealers. Haunted in his dreams by a beautiful young woman named Lee, the sheikh finds himself trapped in an agonizing conflict between his devout faith and his growing desire. The film uses the sheikh's spiritual crisis as a vehicle to explore themes of hypocrisy, temptation, and the fragility of moral authority, set against the gritty backdrop of a Cairo neighborhood where vice and piety coexist in uneasy proximity.
