Overview

Suspended Wives (Lmaalkat) is a Moroccan documentary that exposes the stark legal inequality facing women who wish to end their marriages in Morocco. While men are permitted to remarry just six months after a separation, women seeking divorce face an almost insurmountable bureaucratic ordeal. The film follows three women — Ghita, Latifa, and Saadia — as they navigate this labyrinthine system, capturing their frustration, resilience, and determination.
