Overview

Last Day of Sun is a Tunisian noir thriller set in 1987, at the precise moment Ben Ali assumes power and Tunisia braces for what is heralded as a new dawn. Against this charged political atmosphere, detective Ayed is drawn into the investigation of a murdered child — a case that quickly unravels into something far darker and more reaching than it first appears. The film masterfully recreates the cautious optimism and underlying tensions of late-1980s Tunisia, pairing a keen sense of historical atmosphere with the brooding suspense of classic film noir. A gripping portrait of a country at a crossroads, seen through the lens of crime.
