Overview

For Catherine's Eyes is an Egyptian melodrama centered on Salma, a woman crushed between two unyielding forces: a thankless son who repays her sacrifices with indifference, and a controlling brother who polices her freedom simply because she has no husband. When her devoted lover offers her a way out through marriage, Salma declines — unwilling to place her own happiness above her son's welfare. As troubles mount from every direction, her emotional world collapses, and the film drives toward a tragic finale in which Salma loses herself in the most irreversible of ways. It is a stark portrait of self-denial and the silent devastation it leaves behind.
