A Lie Within a Lie is an Egyptian comedy film featuring Mounir Wagdy, a reckless Cairo layabout drowning in debt despite the monthly allowance sent by his provincial uncle. Desperate for more cash, Mounir concocts an elaborate lie: he tells his uncle he has married into a respectable family. But as debts pile up and his belongings are confiscated, he is forced to move into a dingy rooftop room. When his delighted uncle decides to visit Cairo with his sister to meet the fictional bride, Mounir's web of deceit begins to unravel in gloriously comic fashion. A classic Egyptian farce about the consequences of living beyond one's means and one's honesty.
