Journal de la Rue Gabrielle is an autobiographical documentary filmed by a Palestinian director stranded in Paris's Montmartre neighbourhood during France's COVID-19 lockdown. As borders closed and the city fell silent, the filmmaker found memories of Palestine flooding back, merging with his Parisian daily journal in unexpected ways. The pandemic becomes a lens through which one virus awakens memories of others — occupation, siege, confinement — drawing quiet but potent parallels between political dispossession and pandemic isolation.
