Overview

Jal el Bahr is a Lebanese personal essay film that retraces the layered history of a 1960s domain in South Lebanon and the family bound to it across generations. Oscillating between memory and loss, the documentary shifts from grounded testimony to a metaphorical visual universe — illustrating its story through living pictures that slowly unveil the unspoken tensions and secrets that may have led to the estate's undoing. A meditative, delicately crafted portrait of place, family, and the silence that outlasts them both.
