Roh's Beauty is an Egyptian drama inspired by the Italian film Malèna, transporting its themes of female vulnerability and social hypocrisy to the Cairo district of Bolak El Dakror. While her husband works abroad, Rouh finds herself the target of relentless attention and pressure from several of her neighbors, each competing to lure her into an affair. The film follows her daily struggle to preserve her dignity against the tide of desire that surrounds her. As Rouh resists the advances directed at her, two of her neighbors conspire to set her up in a trap she never sees coming. The film is a frank examination of how beauty can become a burden in a community quick to judge and slow to protect.
