Inland (Gabbla) is an Algerian drama following Malek, a semi-retired surveyor who takes on one final assignment in the remote western regions of Algeria at a friend's urging. The landscape he enters carries deep wounds — it was the site of fierce fighting during the civil war that cut short an earlier survey meant to bring electricity to the local communities. With the region still simmering with unresolved tension, Malek resumes the mapping mission, only to find himself regarded with deep suspicion and barely concealed hostility by the locals who have long learned not to trust outsiders.
