Rags and Tatters is an Egyptian drama set on one of the most surreal and historically charged nights in modern Egyptian history, when prison gates were suddenly thrown open and thousands of inmates were left to wander the surrounding desert. The film follows one man among them as he makes his way through a Cairo that is rapidly, irrevocably transforming. Caught between the chaos of freedom he never sought and the uncertainty of a city in upheaval, he must navigate not only the physical streets but the shifting moral and social landscape that the night has unleashed. The film is a quiet, intimate portrait of an individual drifting through a collective turning point.
