Echebka (The Net) is an Algerian drama following Maamar (Sid Ali Kouiret), a young fisherman toiling in a small western Algerian port under the economic stranglehold of Si Khelifa (Abdelhalim Rais), a powerful local merchant who dictates the price of the fishermen's catch. Maamar's life seems locked in place until an unexpected car accident puts him face to face with a beautiful unconscious woman named Hayat, whom he pulls to safety. The encounter awakens something in him, and he begins to see his exploitation for what it is. Leaving behind his village and his wife Laâlia (Fatima Belhadj), Maamar journeys to the capital before returning home to confront his situation head-on. A social drama about awakening, dignity, and the courage to break free.
