Banat Al Freej is a rare 1997 Qatari drama series produced in 1986, written by Qatari author Widad Al Kuwari and directed by Egyptian director Ibrahim Al-Sahn. Set within the intimate community of a traditional Qatari neighborhood known as the Freej, the series explores the bonds of kinship, friendship, and neighborly solidarity that defined Gulf social life in that era. The thirteen-episode series features an ensemble of Gulf drama luminaries including Maryam Al-Saleh, Hoda Hussein, Ghazi Hussein, Hoda Ramzy, Salah Al-Mulla, and Sahar Hussein. Considered a rare artifact of Gulf television heritage, it offers a warm and authentic portrait of a community and a way of life.
