Al-Ta'iha (The Stray) is an Egyptian social comedy series centered on Latifa, a nosy mother who neglects her household duties in favor of spying on neighbors and spreading gossip. Her meddlesome ways ultimately cause the divorce of her only daughter Jamila. In a darkly comic twist, Jamila — bored and restless after her marriage ends — begins copying her mother's gossip-driven lifestyle. As the two women wreak havoc across the neighborhood, their exasperated neighbors band together to drive them away before any more lives are disrupted. The series delivers sharp, lighthearted commentary on nosiness, community dynamics, and the generational transmission of bad habits.
