Overview

Ayyur — meaning "Moon" in Tamazight — is a coming-of-age drama following Hasna and Samad, two fourteen-year-old friends who discover in art and painting a means of resistance and survival against the darkness surrounding them. The film uses the visual language of color and creativity to illuminate how young people hold onto hope under oppressive circumstances. Lyrical and tender in its storytelling, Ayyur is a poignant work that speaks to the universal power of artistic expression as a tool for endurance and light.
