Overview

The Unknown Woman is an experimental Syrian film written by Fajr Yacoub, adapted from a short story by novelist Colette Khoury. The film probes the psychology of loss and unfulfilled absence — the haunting state of losing someone who can feel simultaneously present and gone. When a young woman encounters a stranger on the street who resembles her mother, the chance meeting becomes a narrative gateway into questions of grief, identity, and longing. A quietly lyrical work that pushes the boundaries of conventional storytelling.
