Overview

Asfouri is a Lebanese drama set against the turbulent backdrop of post-civil-war Beirut's reconstruction era. Karim, who grew up amid the ruins of conflict, returns to the city carrying one ambition: to restore the weathered building his grandfather left behind. His hopes collide with those of a real estate company that has acquired stakes in the property and envisions a modern commercial tower in its place. As Karim fights to preserve the architecture that holds his family's memory, he also falls into a fragile romance with Maya, a relationship that mirrors the city's own tension between preservation and progress. The film is a meditation on inheritance, identity, and what it means to rebuild.
