The Night, is a 1992 Syrian movie, directed by Mohammad Malas, and starring Sabah Jazairi, Fares Al-Helou, Omar Malas. with a runtime of 116 minutes.
The Night is a Syrian documentary-drama by director Mohammad Malas, a deeply personal excavation of memory set in the destroyed Golan Heights city of Quneitra. Using his own family as the lens, Malas reconstructs a history spanning from the 1936 revolts against British and Zionist forces in Palestine to the city's destruction and Israeli occupation in 1967. Drawing on his mother's recollections and the grave of his father, a resistance fighter, Malas seeks to reclaim a narrative overshadowed by shame and loss. Through the daily lives, dreams, and fears of Quneitra's citizens, the film becomes a haunting meditation on identity, displacement, and the burden of history.
The Night or Al-lail is a Syrian feature drama film by director Mohamed Malas. The film is set in Quneitra and is about the Arab-Israeli conflict. In 1993 it became the first Syrian feature to be played at the New York Film Festival.
