Overview

Al-Hout wal-Jidar is an Iraqi drama series following Akram, a young man who yearns for nothing more than a quiet, ordinary life. He travels to Basra to propose to Amal, the woman he hopes to build that life with, but his plans are quickly derailed. His friend Muhannad and neighbor Jabbar are accused of theft, and Jabbar is killed in a violent incident that sends shockwaves through their community. As tragedy compounds upon tragedy — including Jabbar's widow refusing to allow her son to work for Fouad — the series paints a layered portrait of life in southern Iraq, where the weight of social obligations, loyalty, and loss shapes every decision.
