Riad Shahid

A theatrical director, producer, and film, theater, and television actor, born in Al-Qadisiyah Governorate. He was born and raised there, then left for Baghdad, the capital, to study at the Academy of Fine Arts, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in theater sciences from the University of Baghdad in 1980, and he was first in his class, after which he obtained a Master’s degree in Theater Directing with a very good degree from the University of Baghdad in 1983, then he obtained a Doctorate in Semiotics of Light and Laser Engineering with distinction from The same university in 1996, and he was appointed (Assistant Professor at the University of Baghdad) in 2009. In Baghdad, he also began his artistic career with many works as an actor, director, and producer. He participated in approximately 42 television series, including: (Stray Wishes), (Shadow Men), (Lion of Babylon), (Bashaer), and (Marginalized Souls). He was also a preparer and presenter in a number of television programs such as: (Adam and Eve), (Iraqi Cinema), and (Portrait) program. He directed many works for the theater, such as: (Freedom Road), (The Apple of the Heart), and the play (Bride of Ages), in addition to plays he acted in, including: (The Game of Love), (The Cobbler) and the play (The Brothers Karamazov). He also acted in several cinematic works, including: (The Knight and the Mountain), (The Silence of the Roses), and the movie (The Doll). In addition to the works he produced, such as: the series (Strings and Tears), the series (Sawari), the movie (Back Streets), and the movie (The Doll).
