Overview

The Government Knows is a Kuwaiti satirical comedy stage production that uses humour as a vehicle for pointed social and political commentary. Set against the backdrop of Kuwaiti society, the play engages with a range of issues that are rarely addressed so directly on stage, with the plight of the Bidun — Kuwait's population of stateless residents — taking centre stage as the most urgent of these concerns. By framing serious legal and social inequities within a comedic structure, the production manages to reach audiences on an emotional level while provoking genuine reflection on the structures that define belonging and citizenship.
