Overview

The Alleys is a Jordanian drama set in the claustrophobic back streets of East Amman, where the neighborhood itself functions as both stage and prison. A con man living a double life takes one risk too many when he attempts to swindle a local gang leader and flee with the woman he loves. As the walls of the tight-knit community close in around him, every neighbor becomes a potential informant and every alley a trap. The film is a sharp portrait of a society where gossip, clan loyalty, and violence enforce a rigid social code — and where those who dare to break from convention pay a heavy price. A tense, atmospheric work in contemporary Jordanian cinema.
