Overview

Freekeh is a Jordanian drama film set in the dense, compacted neighborhoods of Amman, where Ramy, a peaceful teenager who enjoys skateboarding and cards with friends, finds his world upended by a single misunderstanding. When the local gangster mistakes his casual words for a deliberate insult, a cycle of retaliatory violence is set in motion — pulling Ramy and those around him into a confrontation he never sought. Shot against the hilly backstreets and alleys of a working-class Amman district, the film paints a vivid portrait of how fragile peace can be when community life is governed by codes of honor, anger, and revenge. A tense and socially observant coming-of-age drama.
