Overview

Al Bashayer is an Egyptian romantic drama that brings together two people from vastly different worlds. Abu Al-Maati spent years abroad working and saving, returning home to buy a small farm and start life anew with the help of his brother-in-law. His quiet rural existence is disrupted when film star Salwa Nassar is involved in an accident near his property during the shooting of a new film — and he steps in to rescue her. Recuperating at the farm, Salwa makes a startling discovery: in this remote corner of Egypt, nobody knows who she is. Her celebrity, plastered across magazines and television screens, has not reached here. For the first time, she experiences life stripped of fame, and finds an unexpected connection with a man who has never needed it.
