Mouths and Rabbits is an Egyptian social drama film set in the 1970s that confronts two of the era's most pressing issues: overpopulation and the chasm between Egypt's social classes. Naama lives under the roof of her elder sister and her husband Abdel Magid, who struggles to support a family of ten children. When Abdel Magid arranges Naama's marriage to the teacher El-Battawi behind her back — using forged documents — Naama flees to Mansoura rather than accept a future she never chose. The film is a pointed and compassionate portrait of women's autonomy, poverty, and the human cost of a society that treats marriage as a transaction.
