Ibtedaiya le Mama is an Egyptian comedy film about a mother who never completed her basic schooling and initially refuses to allow her only daughter to marry a young engineer until the girl finishes her education. Years later, when the engineer renews his proposal and the mother finally agrees, she insists the newlyweds live under her roof. The groom balks and hatches an unexpected solution: find the mother a husband of her own. She accepts — on one condition: she must earn her elementary-school certificate first. The film delivers warm laughs while celebrating the idea that education and new beginnings have no age limit.
