
An Armenian artist of Egyptian origin, she was born in Alexandria and died there. She acted in some artistic works, but she excelled in dancing and participated in many films as a dancer. She only danced in some films and her dancing was described as an art only She began her art when she was very young, and it is said that she was from a conservative family, so her father would accompany her to and from the studio. She worked as a teacher of belly dancing, and worked as a ballet dancer in Alexandria. Then she took up belly dancing and was admired in most of the theaters in which she worked. She appeared in a number of films, including “My Father Deceived Me,” “Between Two Hearts,” and “When the World Laughs.” She is of Armenian origin. She studied ballet before she was six years old, and she excelled in this art, then she became a teacher. She then invaded the field of belly dancing after the end of World War II to apply the rules and spirituality of the art of ballet in her belly dancing. The great composers created music called “Hermine Dances.” She entered the field of cinema to participate with Ismail Yassin in his biggest show film, “The World When You Laugh,” and then Shadia and Madiha Yousry participated in the starring role. The movie “Daughters of Eve”. Egyptian theaters hosted her with the artist Shukoko and the popular singer Abdel Aziz Mahmoud, and when the 1952 revolution broke out, the Egyptians did not find a better ambassador for art than her. She toured the Arab countries with her performances and dances, starting from Iraq to Morocco, and won acclaim and many awards. I later retired from art The artist Shukri Sarhan admired her and married her, and she used to tell her friends the story of their marriage, and how Shukri Sarhan cried on their wedding night, because his wife, “Hermine,” did not love a man before him. He loved her very much and this marriage lasted for two years. However, due to the difference in character and way of living between the two, this led to the inevitable failure of the marriage. When he wanted to divorce her, she continued to cry intensely and he continued to cry as well. He sent a collection of words of love and flirtation along with the divorce certificate. The Armenian photographer Fan Liu was impressed by her, who was the only photographer in the history of Egyptian photography to choose his clients. He would never accept taking a picture of a person who had no facial features or expressions. His studio on Qasr al-Nil Street was a dream for great artists and statesmen, so that “Liu” would take charming pictures of them. “Leo” photographed a large number of artists, and he said about “Hermine”: “She is a butterfly with a thousand wings. She dances without arousing instincts.”
