A Day and a Night is a Moroccan drama film directed by Naoufel Berraoui that follows Yzza, a devout and sheltered village woman who sets out alone for Casablanca to fetch medicine for her ailing daughter after the monthly supply from her absent husband fails to arrive. With little money and no proper address, Yzza is wholly unprepared for the scale and chaos of the city. When her bag is stolen, she finds herself thrown together with a young woman on the run from the police — an encounter that becomes her unlikely guide through a world she never knew existed. Berraoui weaves together two contrasting lives to paint a vivid, documentary-inflected portrait of modern Morocco: its inequalities, its contradictions, and the resilience of ordinary women navigating it all.
