Walud is a drama set in 2014 in the rural Syrian desert, where Amuna, a 44-year-old shepherd, lives with her husband Aziz, a 48-year-old ISIS fighter, in a remote and desolate landscape. Their austere daily existence is upended when Aziz takes a very young European ISIS convert as his second wife, throwing Amuna's world into turmoil. The film offers an intimate, ground-level perspective on how the violent extremism of the Islamic State disrupts the lives of ordinary women caught in its orbit, exploring themes of jealousy, displacement, and the fragile routines of survival in a war-torn region.
