Bara El Manhag is an Egyptian drama film set in the rural Egyptian countryside of the early 1980s. Nour is a 13-year-old orphan — bright, imaginative, and a compulsive liar — who wears thick glasses and struggles to earn the respect of his classmates. In a bid to prove his bravery, he enters a supposedly haunted house near the school that no other child dares approach. Inside, he finds an elderly recluse hiding from the world. The unlikely friendship that forms between the boy and the old man becomes a transformative apprenticeship, setting both on a gentle, heartfelt journey of self-discovery.
