East of Noon (Sharq 12) is a striking Egyptian drama film directed by Hind Shouma, set in a timeless confined world that operates like an allegorical stage. At the center is Abdo, a 19-year-old musical prodigy who uses his art as an act of quiet rebellion against the authority of Shawky — an eccentric 70-year-old showman who governs with a calculated blend of spectacle and fear.
