Overview
Shams Al-Qandeel is an Arabic romantic drama series centered on Shams, an exceptionally beautiful young woman raised by her devoted stepfather El-Ghali, who has no children of his own and conceals from her the truth of their relationship. Consumed by a possessive love, El-Ghali moves Shams and her mother to a rural village and compels her to wear the veil to shield her from the attention of young tribal men. The series explores the tension between genuine affection and oppressive control, charting Shams's struggle to claim her own heart and life against the suffocating grip of tradition and patriarchal authority.
