Overview

Half a Day is a moving Arabic drama centred on Hajj Mukhtar, a grieving father who refuses to accept that his son Omar has disappeared. Convinced that Omar is still alive, he rallies his family and the entire neighbourhood to search tirelessly. When he encounters a young man who shares his son's name, he clings to the belief that his prayers have been answered — until his eldest daughter uncovers the painful truth that Omar has been dead for years. The film is a tender and heartbreaking portrayal of a father's unshakeable love and denial, and the quiet solidarity of a community that surrounds him in compassion as he comes to terms with an irreplaceable loss.
