Half a Day is a moving Arabic drama centred on Hajj Mukhtar, a grieving father who refuses to accept that his son Omar has disappeared. When he encounters a young man who shares his son's name, he clings to the belief that his prayers have been answered — until his eldest daughter uncovers the painful truth that Omar has been dead for years. The film is a tender and heartbreaking portrayal of a father's unshakeable love and denial, and the quiet solidarity of a community that surrounds him in compassion as he comes to terms with an irreplaceable loss.
