Overview

Manca Moro is a personal documentary by a filmmaker born in Tunisia to an Algerian father and a Sicilian mother — a woman shaped by three distinct cultures. The film traces the Sicilian branch of her family, whose ancestors migrated to Tunisia in the early twentieth century as part of a mass labor movement that brought thousands to the shores of this "promised land." A century later, the director embarks on a quest to reconnect with her Sicilian relatives, scattered between Italy and France after sixty years of exile, weaving together themes of identity, diaspora, colonial history, and the longing for belonging across generations and borders.
