Overview

Lyd is a sci-fi documentary film that traces the sweeping arc of one of history's oldest cities. For five thousand years, Lyd was a vibrant Palestinian metropolis — until the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, when the city was conquered and its population expelled. Through a chorus of voices and characters, the film reconstructs the Palestinian experience of Lyd: the massacre, the forced displacement, and the enduring trauma of erasure. Blending documentary storytelling with speculative elements, Lyd creates a profound and haunting portrait of collective memory, loss, and the longing for a home that was taken away.
