Le Serment (The Oath) is a 1963 Algerian television film produced in the immediate aftermath of the independence war. The story follows young Algerian men who joined the national resistance movement in response to the bloody French colonial army repressions of May 1945 in the Constantinois region. One of the earliest works of Algerian national cinema, the film serves as both a historical document and an emotional tribute to the sacrifices made in the struggle for independence.
