L'Incendie (El Harik) is an Algerian historical drama miniseries in ten episodes, faithfully adapted from Mohamed Dib's celebrated trilogy comprising The Big House, The Fire, and The Loom. Set in eastern Algeria in 1939, the story unfolds through the eyes of ten-year-old Omar, who lives with his family in a crowded shared dwelling called Dar Sbitar. His mother Aini toils relentlessly to keep her children and their grandmother alive amid poverty and colonial-era hardship, while the communal home itself — brimming with the intertwined lives of several families — becomes as much a character as any individual.
