The Way, is a 1967 Algerian movie, directed by Mohamed Slimane Riad, and starring M'hamed Benguettaf, Sid Ahmed Agoumi, Areski Nebti. with a runtime of 105 minutes.
The Way is a powerful Algerian drama that portrays the Algerian War of Independence through the eyes of captured freedom-fighters held in French military prisons on both sides of the Mediterranean. The film interweaves desperate escape attempts, scenes of torture, and French propaganda efforts in a claustrophobic prison drama of mounting intensity. In perhaps the film's most sardonic moment of cruelty, detainees are forced to listen to broadcast speeches by General Charles de Gaulle — speeches that inadvertently chart the shifting and contradictory nature of French-Algerian relations throughout the conflict.
