Ghadi is a Lebanese drama film that tells the story of Leba, a small-town music teacher whose life is upended when his son Ghadi is born with Down Syndrome. While Ghadi brings unexpected joy and pride to his parents and siblings, he also exposes the intolerance lurking in their community, as neighbors push to have him placed in a care institution. The film centers on Leba and his wife Lara's fierce resistance against social pressure to remove Ghadi from their home. A deeply human story about acceptance, family bonds, and the prejudices embedded in everyday life, Ghadi is one of Lebanon's most emotionally resonant films about disability and unconditional love.
Ghadi is a 2013 Lebanese drama film directed by Amin Dora. The film was originally selected as the Lebanese entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards in a two-way race over Lara Saba's Blind Intersections. When the film's release date was moved from 26 September 2013 to 31 October 2013, it no longer met the eligibility dates and Blind Intersections became the official submission from Lebanon. The film was submitted the following year as Lebanon's official submission, but was not nominated.
