Overview

The Postcard is a Moroccan documentary by director Asmae El Moudir, sparked by the discovery of an old postcard depicting Zawia — the mountain village her mother left as a child and never returned to. Traveling to this remote, time-frozen place, El Moudir forms intimate bonds with local women and girls, particularly young Oum Elaid, gradually realizing how different her own life might have been. What starts as a personal quest for family roots evolves into a universal meditation on migration, emancipation, and the longing to belong.
