Overview

Dégradé is a bold Palestinian drama film set entirely inside a beauty salon in Gaza on a rare day when the electricity is actually working. Christine's salon fills with a diverse cast of women — a bride, a pregnant woman, a bitter divorcée, a devout believer, and a pill-dependent client — each carrying her own story. When gunfire erupts in the street outside, sparked by a feud between a gangland family and Hamas over a stolen lion from Gaza's only zoo, the women find themselves trapped as death becomes a real possibility. Confined and frightened, the masks come off and raw truths emerge. A taut, character-driven film that uses an extraordinary situation to illuminate the everyday humanity of Palestinian women living under siege.
