Arabani is a drama that probes the tensions of identity, belonging, and return. After seventeen years estranged from his Druze village in Israel, Yoseph comes back with his two Israeli teenage children following the breakdown of his marriage to a Jewish Israeli woman. His return disturbs the closed, conservative Druze community that has little appetite for those who left and married outside the faith. Even his mother Afifa — who ultimately opens her heart to him and his children once more — cannot shield him entirely from the community's judgement. The film is a nuanced portrait of a man caught between worlds, and the complicated dynamics of a traditional community navigating modernity, loyalty, and the meaning of family.
