Antar and Beesa is an Egyptian comedy that threads romance and crime into a warmly funny story about two lovable misfits. Beesa is a night-club singer down on her luck whose heart belongs to Antar, a small-time thief fresh out of prison with his two hapless partners-in-crime, Fawwar and Hindi. Their first caper — stealing a car — goes badly wrong, and in desperation the group kidnaps a young girl hoping to collect a ransom. That goes wrong too. But the film's real surprise is the unlikely attachment that forms between the tough-talking Antar, the tenderhearted Beesa, and the little girl they are supposed to be holding for money. Unable to go through with their plan, they find themselves her fiercest protectors — and each other — in a comedy that ends with love where crime began.
