Overview

The Colors of Love (Alwan al-Hubb) is an Arabic dramatic film that opens on an ordinary day that turns into a tragedy. Tariq and Laila, a married couple, spend a routine afternoon shopping for a gift for her mother, with Tariq finding small ways to avoid visiting his mother-in-law. But the next morning, Tariq is attacked by two men and suffers a fatal respiratory arrest at the age of forty. Left alone, Laila is overcome by grief, revisiting their shared memories and experiencing vivid hallucinations in which Tariq remains present. The film is a tender and emotionally resonant meditation on sudden loss, the fragility of everyday life, and the way love lingers long after a person is gone. A quiet, moving portrait of a marriage cut short.
