El Teleghraf, is a 1938 Egyptian movie, directed by Togo Mizrahi, and starring Ali AlKassar, Bahiga El Mahdy. Reyaad ElQasabgy.
El Teleghraf is a classic Egyptian comedy built on a brilliantly absurdist premise. The hapless servant Othman falls for a fellow maid, and when their affair is discovered by her mistress, both are dismissed. Othman drifts from job to job without a foothold until he lands work as a telegraph deliverer — where his notorious laziness proves, against all odds, to be his salvation. By delaying the delivery of a critical telegram to a wealthy businessman, he inadvertently derails a stock exchange deal in a way that ends up earning the man a fortune. In gratitude, the wealthy man searches out Othman to reward him handsomely. The film is a delightfully ironic fable about luck, incompetence, and the absurdity of fate — a charming early entry in Egyptian comedic cinema.
