Acre Dreams, is a 2018 American movie, directed by Daniel Wachsmann, and starring Liraz Charhi, Hitham Omari, Daniel Wachsmann. with a runtime of 78 minutes.
Acre Dreams is a Palestinian documentary following theater director Azam Salameh as he stages an autobiographical play in the mixed Jewish-Arab city of Acre. Set in 1947 during the final days of the British Mandate, the play tells a love story between Salameh's grandmother Layla, a celebrated singer, and Dr. Alfasi, the last Jewish resident to remain in Acre during the 1948 war. When the production comes under threat and never reaches the stage, this film becomes its only living record — a document of a story twice silenced. Screened at the Haifa International Film Festival, it is a meditation on memory, coexistence, and the stories a city keeps to itself.
