Ibn El Ballad (Firas Fits In) is a Jordanian-Lebanese dramedic short following nine-year-old Firas, who visits Jordan for the first time in his life to renew his passport. Having grown up in Lebanon feeling perpetually out of place, Firas arrives convinced that Jordan — the homeland on his documents — will finally feel like home. But a series of unexpected events reveals that the two neighboring countries are worlds apart in culture and custom, leaving Firas more adrift than ever. Determined to prove he belongs somewhere, he goes to increasingly extreme lengths to fit in, in this warm and perceptive story about identity, belonging, and the spaces between.
