
A theatrical and film actor, director and journalist, he obtained a baccalaureate degree and then decided to complete his studies in France, where he studied acting, the art of elocution and theatrical directing. Then he returned to his country in 1929 and worked on establishing the first acting institute in Egypt in 1930. Many of the most important actors in cinema and theater graduated from him. He founded the National Theater Troupe in 1935, founded school theater and modern theatre, and was the first to direct a popular arts operetta. He traveled to work in Kuwait for many years, where he also founded the first acting institute. He published many books on the art of acting, then won the Excellence Award in the art of theater directing. He was appointed as the first director of the Higher Institute of Acting in 1944. He received the State Encouragement Award in the Arts from the Supreme Council for Arts, Literature and Social Sciences, in 1961. He received the State Appreciation Award in the Arts from the Supreme Council for Arts, Literature and Social Sciences, in 1975.
