
A singer and composer, of Circassian origins. Her father is Turkish and her mother is Syrian. She holds both Lebanese and Jordanian nationalities. Amal Ismail Jarkas, born on June 1, 1937 in Beirut, resided in Egypt for forty years. Her family was famous for singing and art. Her mother played the oud and her sister, the singer Mayada, moved to Syria at the age of ten, then married an Englishman and immigrated with him to Britain. Then she returned to Lebanon and began her artistic fame from Lebanon, especially after her marriage at the age of seventeen to the Lebanese-Palestinian singer Jamal al-Din Muhammad Tuffaha. Taroub presented 5 series for television, including: (The Barber and the Kenz, Marital Diaries). She presented many works to cinema, especially in the sixties, most of which were Lebanese, Syrian and Turkish films. Her purely Egyptian films do not exceed 3 films: “Ha’a Thalassa” by Abbas Kamel in 1961, “The Mind and Maltham” and her last work, which is the film “Challenge the Strong” by Ahmed Al-Sabaawi in 1980.
