Al-Jumaili was born in the Siraj al-Din neighborhood in Baghdad in 1938. He participated in his first theatrical work while he was in the fifth grade of primary school under the name “The Boys’ Teacher.” Upon his graduation from the Academy of Fine Arts in 1964, he was called to military service and entered the reserve college, like his fellow bachelor’s and master’s graduates. Six months later, he graduated with the rank of lieutenant. Being an artist, he was referred to work for the Armed Forces Radio, then worked as the radio’s director. Al-Jumaili worked in the “July 14” Theater Troupe and the National Acting Troupe. In 1987, he founded the Dar Al Salam Theater Troupe with the artists Sami Kaftan and Muhammad Hussein Abdel Rahim, through which they presented popular plays, including “A Thousand Afias,” “House of Lovers,” and “Flous and Bride.” Al-Jumaili's star shone with his participation in the comedy series "Under the Barber's Razor", which was broadcast for the first time in the sixties of the last century, through the character of Abu Dhawayya, which left a great impact on viewers. Like many artists, he left Iraq and headed to Syria, where he presented comedic works criticizing the situation in Iraq after the American invasion in 2003. We mention among them the works: (Militia of Love 2006) by director: Farouk Al-Qaisi, and the series (Citizen J 2007) by the late director: Adnan Ibrahim. His latest work was the series “The Leader,” which was produced this year and shown during the month of Ramadan. He also wrote many books, most notably “The Baghdadis in the Old Days,” as he was considered a fan of Baghdad. Among his most prominent theatrical works are: (The Kingdom of Beggars), (Hayet Ensais), and (Al-Sharia - Directed by: Fadel Khalil). He also wrote and directed many theatrical works, including: (The Emperor), (Saeed Action), (Live and See), and others. He also presented a number of cinematic works, including: (Another Day), (The Walls), (Love in Baghdad), (100%), (Badiya), (Mr. Director) and other cinematic works. Al-Jumaili was hospitalized, before his death, at dawn on Saturday 1-12-2007 in a hospital in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
